This exhibition was designed to launch Devon Open Studios, a much-loved South West art event, and provide a taster of all the artists across the region that would be opening their studios to the public, between September 7th and 22nd.
Having only just moved to the South Hams area this year, it was probably a little ambitious to attempt an open studio event, but it focused my efforts to get the studio ship-shape, complete a body of work – particularly local landscapes, and kick-start some personal networking amongst the local art community. So regardless of my own personal (rather low) attendance numbers, discounting the dear friends who travelled from far afield, it was definitely a worthwhile endeavour!
It provided an excuse for friends to descend and I even caught up with some old art school friends who have been sorely missed in the intervening years, so such a momentous reunion deserved a celebration with sun-downers on Bantham Beach, in front of one of the most spectacular sunsets witnessed yet!
The sunrise watercolour on the left (Southpool Creek) sold shortly after the event.
